About the Slipper Room:

"The Slipper Room evokes a pre-Giuliani era of old-fashioned va-va-voom boisterousness crammed into a glittery, sequined halter top of a room with a little stage at the rear for showgirls (and boys) to shake their stuff in marabou boas and little else." Says New York Magazine

From Citysearch.com:The Scene
A successful blend of opulence and kitsch, the Slipper Room provides a welcome twist to the East Village scene. What sets this glitzy retro lounge apart from the host of other cosmo-slinging, PR-girl-on-cellphone-glutted boites currently dominating Orchard Street is an honest-to-God commitment to quality cabaret.
The Draw
The star of the Slipper Room's self-proclaimed "Vegas/Victorian" aesthetic is the velvet-curtained, gorgeously gold-trimmed stage itself. The Slipper Room plays host to both local and more widely-known cabaret acts, including Scotty the Blue Bunny and *BOB*, as well as the song stylings of owners Camille and James.

About the Performers: The Village Voice says, "The afternoon's highlight . . . (Miss. Saturn's) performance had the hard-to-impress crowd on its feet." Indeed, she has wowed audiences across the city in top venues such as Arlene's Grocery, ARS Nova, CBGBs, The Coral Room, The Cutting Room, Deep Dish Cabaret, Joe's Pub, La Mama, Low, The Marquee, PS 122, The Slipper Room, and The VaVa Voom Room. She's performed with Rock Bands Mattilicious, Fisherman's Xylophonic Burlesque Orchestra as well as touring the North West with The Bitter Poet where she not only performed her own material, but did multiple character scene work and back up singing. She was part of Julie Atlas Muz's Whitney Biennial performance of Treasure Box at the Coral Room. She has been a guest artist of the Wau Wau sisters, Magic Brian, Ami Goodheart and Russlo the Magician. She's headlined at The Goddess Festival with Murry Hill as well as at the New York Burlesque Festival.

About the band: Blue Suede Bombers Did we mention this was Val Killmore’s birthday celebration as well? Hand picked by the birthday girl, this band has an old school rockabilly style and a stage presence that will make you scream and shout. No one will be sitting during this set!
